United Football League 2014
1. More teams - I had the feeling that UFL will add more teams & they did. For 2013, they added 8 but removed the bottom two of Div. 2. But the numbers of the team are still 10 in Div. 1 & 12 in Div. 2. (Still not sure about the numbers, it's still in planning stage). Here is what they have to do for 2014 if ever they still have 10 teams in Div. 1 & 12 in Div. 2:Promote the top 2 teams of Div. 2, then the Bottom 2 teams of Div. 1 & top 3 & 4 of Div. 2 have a Promotion-Relegation Playoff. That way, the Div. 1 is 14 teams & Div. 2 will be at least 16-18 teams which makes thing balance & manageable.
2. More Players - More Azkals players in the UFL. That is the solution to make our league stronger. But I hope they don't go all to Global F.C. I also hope that the clubs develop a much stronger youth academy for future purposes. We could also make our league stronger by hiring players from countries that needs development in football like Guam,Timor Leste,Brunei Darussalam,Bhutan & many more. That way, we can enhance there National Team players by exposing them to our football & they (the players) can enhance our league by showing us their skills. It's a win-win situation. I also suggest that the Arm Forces team adapt & accept a maximum of 5 civilians. Within those\ 5 are a max. of 3 foreigners.
3. Clubs should find their own "home" - UFL should not have the responsibility to find more venues, the teams should. If every club finds their own "home" it's a step closer to becoming one of the greatest league in Asia. Here are my ideas:Stallions should rent IloIlo Sorts Complex or just use Central Philippine University Field Cebu Queen City should use Cebu Sports ComplexDiliman could coordinate with U.P. so they can use the track-oval.Kaya can use UMak or RMS.GLOBAL should use Bonifacio GLOBAL City Turf (pun intended) Green Archers can use RMS. (De La Salle Manila is next to RMSC)
4.People should now pay to watch live games - I really like the fact that you can watch UFL for free, but let's hel them gain more income through venues. I think 20-50 pesos is not a burden to fans. Example:UFL Cup Finals at Rizal Memorial Stadium (RMS)Ticket Price is 50 pesos (cause it's the finals)10,000 attended. 10,000 x 50 = 500,000 pesosClub A & Club B (Champions & 2nd placer teams) earns 20% share of incomeClub C & Club D (3rd & 4th placer) also earns 20% Share of income.UFL gets 10% & RMS gets 10% also (the 10% that is given to RMS will only be used for the imporvement of the pitch)
5. More committed & better sponsors. Even though if a team has a sponsor means it will help them, I know many clubs that has sponsor but still is not doing good financially & worse, it affects their league performance. Sponsors need to be committed to help the club. A company's first intent to sponsor a club is to help the club & not so that you could gain more advertisement. Those things are just in second or third agenda of sponsoring. Football fans that are businessmen are the perfect people to do this role in the UFL.
6. Better officiating. If you have watched the UFL, you know some officials are bad, worse & worst. Do I really have to explain the affects of bad officiating. Bad officiating=poor performance of team, players, league , angry fans, frustrated sponsors & the list goes on. They really need to train UFL referees. The UFL must have their own referees & a governing body for the referees like "UFL Referees Committee" complete with teachers, trainers & those people who looks at the performance of the referee & rate them. If two UFL clubs will have a friendly, they could use it as a test or referees. How? Well, let's say Union International Manila FC VS Green Archers FC, the "UFL Referees Committee" will have 3 or 4 referees, they will examine those referees fitness & deciding skills during the game. That way, the committee can ensure that the referees are good enough for the league.
7. "The United Football Show"
With football gaining more popularity here in the Philippines, I hope that AKTV would have more airing time in IBC or they buy IBC 13. This show is a 1 hour show dedicated for football in the Philippines. 30 min. of the show are for highlights of all games last week. The other half are for experts opinion, interviews, etc.
8. Split UpLet's not talk about money here, if the fans don't like AKTV airing UFL games, then why not the UFL,PFF,TV5 & ABS-CBN have an agreement. AKTV keeps Div. 1 & Div. 2 will be aired in Studio 23.
9. UFL should practice Home-and-away format
If clubs follows my suggestion in number 3. Then UFL should start Practicing this.
Imagine...
UFL Div.1 Round 1
Army VS Global - at ASCOM
Stallions VS Nomads - at IloIlo Sports Complex
Global VS Stallions - at Turf Bonifacio GLOBAL City (pun intended)
Nomads VS Army - at Nomads SC
UFL Div.1 Round 2
Global VS Army - at Turf Bonifacio Global City
Nomads VS Stallions - at Nomads SC
Stallions VS Global - at IloIlo Sports Complex
Army VS Nomads - at ASCOM
Let's say that you are a Stallions fan that is in IloIlo, now you can see your favorite team in Action.
For a dude who live in Paranaque, I can watch UFL games live more often.
UFL Clubs will have more fans if they do this.
United Football League Cup
The League Cup of the PhilippinesI wish UFL have 32 teams, All UFL teams plus invited clubs ( foreign clubs should be welcomed)
8 groups, either single or double round robin. Then the knock-out stage is next. It's kind of like the world cup.
PFF *Smart Club Championship
The F.A. Cup of the Philippines
(* the sponsor of the tournament)
To make it more easier to explain, I will give an example on how can the PFF Club Championship run or work for 2014.
Let us say there are 24 clubs in NCR, 8 clubs in CAR, 5 in Reg. I, 7 in Reg. II, 8 in Reg. III, etc. that will participate (remember, STRICTLY NO SECOND TEAMS ALLOWED, I don't know about sister teams with different names, you decide on that one).
There will always be group stages, so there are 5 groups in NCR., 2 groups in CAR, 1 in Region II, 1 in Region II, 2 in Region III & so on. Let us say that a total of 128 teams joined the tourney (Which is "Almost Impossibru", always remember this is just an example). And in total, there will be 32 groups. The group stage will be a double-round robin & after that, the top 2 team of each group will move on to the nock-out stages where they will have to win by aggregate (no away-goal advantage).
Possible Calendar for Club football in the Philippines in the Year 2014

July - 1st week - UFL Mid Season Break

hello, I like your ideas for Philippine football. In fact, I also have ideas of my own:
ReplyDelete1. Football Channel
With the rise of football, I hope there will be a TV channel where it's PH football 24/7.
2. Football league system
In order for other teams (those outside the UFL) to rise and become stars, the PFF and UFL should build a football league system in order for them to develop more on their game...
Proposed system:
Level 1: Top Flight Nationwide Football League
Level 2: 2nd Division Nationwide Football League
Level 3: Super Regional League [NCR (in their case maybe the last level), Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao]
Level 4: Regional leagues
Region 1: Ilocandia League
Region 2: Cagayan Valley League
Region 3: Central Luzon League
Region 4-A: CALABARZON League
Region 4-B: MIMAROPA League
Region 5: Bicolandia League
Region 6: Western Visayas League
Region 7: Central Visayas League
Region 8: Eastern Visayas League
Region 9: Liga Zamboanga [Zamboanga Peninsula]
Region 10: Northern Mindanao League
Region 11: Davao League
Region 12: SOCCSKSARGEN League
Region 13: Caraga League
ARMM: Bangsamoro League
CAR: Cordillera League
Level 5 (possibly): Provincial Leagues (see number 4)
3. Cup competitions
3.1 League Cup: between Levels 1 and 2 (like other league cups)
Proposed names:
Philippine League Cup
3.2 Domestic Cup: Regional League [including NCR] Champions (modeled after Copa do Brasil), where top clubs from each region will battle together to win the cup and the chance to challenge the league winners in the Super Cup or Football Shield.
Proposed names:
Philippine FA Cup
Philippine Cup
Jose Rizal Cup
Super Cup: (as far as I know, a super cup is a one-match (or two-match aggregate) tournament between the league champion and the domestic cup winner. It should be on a national holiday to give it a more nationalistic look.
Proposed names:
February 25 - People Power Cup
June 12 - Independence Cup/Filipinas Cup
August 21 - Ninoy Aquino Cup
Last Monday of August - National Heroes Cup/Bayani Cup/Pugadlawin Cup/Katipunan Cup
November 30 - Bonifacio Cup
4. Other ideas
Unless all of the provinces have their own football leagues, the FAs would have to merge to form a regional FA to get things structural.
